The Sydney Pollack Blogathon comes to an end with this wonderful piece by Leticia,  of Critical Retro,     who explores the collaboration between Sydney Pollack and Robert Redford, who together came together in around 7 movies. On the lines of  Scorsese-Robert De Niro,  Tim Burton-Johnny Depp,  John Ford-John Wayne, John Huston-Humphrey Bogart, this indeed was one of the most popular actor-director combos. And they did cover a whole range of genres from Western( Jeremiah Johnson) to period dramas( Out of Africa) to conspiracy thrillers( 3 Days of the Condor) to romances( The Way We Were).  In Leticia’s own words.

Some partnerships between actor and director are more famous than the films themselves which of them emerged. It’s almost impossible not to quote them together: Lillian Gish and DW Griffith, Leonardo DiCaprio and Martin Scorsese, Akira Kurosawa and Toshiro Mifune . Other partnerships do not achieve…
